National Advisors Trust (NAT) is a financial trust advisor serving advisors and their families across the United States. NAT’s new headquarters is a purpose-built tenant improvement designed to reflect its mission, support a 21st-century workplace, and welcome traveling clients and guests. Working closely with NAT’s leadership, FOCAL provided end-to-end services—from real estate search evaluations through post-occupancy reporting. The process included visioning, programming, user-group studies, and benchmarking, translating into a highly intentional, customized environment that supports NAT’s growth.

The design is organized around a social hub at the southwest corner of the floor plate, adjacent to an exterior patio. Supporting daily office life and larger gatherings during NAT’s nationwide quarterly board meetings, the hub functions as a communal living room — shaded in summer, warm in winter — encouraging interaction and connection.

A 60 foot long gallery and display wall serves as a backdrop for the main entry and an organizational element for circulation and definition of public and staff spaces. Punctuated with openings into large meeting spaces, the wall frames views to the west overlooking the tree line of a large public park.

A range of workspace types and scales supports individual work styles and varied collaboration modes. NAT employees frequently transition from heads-down focus to large-group work, requiring careful adjacencies for visual and acoustic separation. Throughout the workplace, sound-isolated phone booths provide private space for calls and concentrated work.
